This week was full of learning! We have been learning about Solids, Liquids, and Gases in Science. In English, we have wrapped up Pronouns! We are wrapping up a study of JESUS as TRUE GOD and TRUE MAN digging deeper into his miracles and parables.
Thanks so much to our parent drivers for our field trip to the Grandel Theater to see the play Ghost. It was a fantastic play and the kids loved it! We were so close to the stage that we felt like we were right in the action. It was wonderful! Granpdarent's Day: Next Friday is GRANDPARENTS' DAY. Your enthusiasm and sportsmanship was fantastic during our Kids Heart Challenge events and as a school we have reached our goal of collecting over $20,000.00 for the American Heart Association. In fact, we raised just over $21,000.00. Incredible! God has truly blessed us to be a blessing to others! Reminder: AR due Monday, 3/2 by 3:00pm.

Many parents don’t carry cash anymore, or have cash on hand when their child delivers the news… “Mom! Dad! It’s Book Fair day!” The eWallet is a digital payment option offered through Scholastic that gives parents a safer alternative to sending their children to school with cash. It’s easily funded using a credit card, but with the convenience of setting a spending limit. See the flyer in Friday Folders on how to set up your students’ eWallet by visiting: http://www.scholastic.com/bf/zionlutheranschool4 This must be done prior to their class’ visit to the book fair in order to be utilized. GOD GIVES US WORTH! A special thank you to parents and grandparents for taking the time to be interviewed by your child this past week. You opened up a wonderful line of communication for your child to talk about these "growing up" years and the struggles we sometimes face with fitting in. Thank you for your openness. You are a great witness to share the importance of your relationship with God and the value He gives us as His children. Check out the Religion tab above to see what we are currently studying as we walk through the life of Christ. Here's a few topics we are exploring: Religion - The Ministry of Jesus - his miracles and spreading God's love to ALL. Science - Introduction to Matter - learning to measure mass, volume, and density. English - Ending our unit on Pronouns soon and the research paper is quickly approaching! Lit. - Our nonfiction unit has included essays on African Americans in baseball and Jackie Robinson. We took time to study a bit of the Civil Rights Movement as we explored informational articles. I hope you take the opportunity to talk about important moments in history and how we are all equal in God's eyes. After our Civil Rights video we watched Speak Life by contemporary Christian artist, Toby Mac. Special Thanks! To our room moms for the Valentines ice cream floats! The kids had a great time socializing and enjoying the treats. Scholastic Books: Orders are due February 26th! Be sure to order online or send in paper orders to me before then!
