This week was a great week. We started a new chapter in Science and finished reading the novel Blended. We had many great lunches this week including corn dog & waffles. We finished our charcoal trees in art and have started a new project with crosses. Not many things happened, but the end of the week was quite a shock. Mrs. Donner was arrested for breaking and entering into Taco Bell, and running away with 1,946 tacos. ;) APRIL FOOL'S! ~Kylie and Celia
I titled this blog post "Peepin Into Spring" because I made this fun bulletin board that says that with a bunch of Peeps on it but now I think I have cursed the weather by doing so. IT IS SO COLD! What the heck! Phil’s Friends Item Drive: As you might remember, the Jr. High chose Phil’s Friends as our service project for the year. We started with our Walk-a-thon where we raised money for the organization. The second part of our service project is to collect items to help Phil’s Friends fill care packages for individuals diagnosed with cancer. We will be collecting items starting March 22 and ending after Easter, April 17. Items can be brought in at any point and placed in the boxes by the big cross upstairs in the Jr High entry way. You can find items that need to be donated at the link below or go to the Amazon web page and order items from the list and have them shipped to Carrie Crenshaw at Zion (3866 S. Old Hwy 94, St. Charles MO 63304). Phil's Friends Items Needed Amazon Phil's Friend Wish List Phil will also be here at Zion on April 5 where we will have the amazing opportunity to pack some of the care packages with him. We will be packing 50 care packages and would love to deliver them to people in our very own community who have been diagnosed with cancer. If you know someone who has cancer and would like a care package sent to them please fill out the form below. Request a Care Package RESEARCH PAPERS UNDER CONSTRUCTION: The first draft of the research paper is due Tuesday. This might be a good time to check in with your child have see how things are going. Read over their draft and help them use the "read aloud" technique to see if ideas flow and sentences make sense. Field Trip Next Friday! Yay for our first field trip in 2 years! All students should bring a COLD lunch and are allowed to wear JEANS and a ZION RED T-SHIRT. This is a change from what the field trip form says. Make sure they pack a jacket/coat too. It looks like it will be a bit chilly that day and we will be outside for the most part. Thanks again to the parents that signed up to drive. We truly appreciate you!

This week in junior high was an exciting week. The book fair opened up. When all the classes went they sold out of almost all the books that were on the video trailers. The most popular ones were Escape, Why Would I Lie, It is the End of the World and I am in My Bathing Suit, The Girl in the Lake, My Otter Half, and Bound for Home. One of the most popular items people got were these fancy pens and pop-its. When the 6th grade got back to the classroom, it was Literature time where we are reading the book Blended. It is overall one of the best books we have read in class. After that we went to lunch and had country fried steak, green beans, and a drink. Usually everyone gets apple juice or milk. After that we went to recess and just hung out with our friends! ~Kylie
Report cards and AR Reports came home Friday. I am so proud of your children and their hard work this year. Tremendous growth is taking place! Please contact me or Mrs. Riemenschneider (Math, Social Studies) if you have any questions about your child's progress as we move into the final quarter of 6th grade. Here's what's new:
Permission slips for Powder Valley due back on Monday - Thanks all volunteers for driving. April 8 will be a cold lunch day - lunch boxes are ok. In Mrs.Donner’s Sixth Grade class this week… On Monday we started to read a book In literature class called Blended. On Tuesday we did computer science and we are making a cardboard sign and programming LED lights and putting them on the sign. On Wednesday we had chapel and our whole class made a goal to bring offerings every Wednesday for a whole month. On Thursday we sent off the academic team and boys varsity basketball team to nationals. On Friday we had a spirit day, a social studies test, science vocab quiz, religion test, and an end of 3rd quarter memory quiz. Also next week Zion will be on Spring Break and we will come back to school on Monday 21, 2022. ~ Evan O and Kennadi This week, the students have been working hard on learning about population data analysis, diet and nutrition, ratios, beginning research papers, and using online web tools for research. We've seen JESUS as TRUE GOD and TRUE MAN by digging deeper into his miracles and parables. Now we are ready to start the walk to the cross. We dove into new novel and learning how we can relate to characters in two ways: as a MIRROR looking into our lives or as a WINDOW into an experience we've never had. Check out the trailer for Blended by Sharon Draper. It was a nominee for the Mark Twain award and won Busy times in 6th grade! Friday marked the end of 3rd quarter. I am so proud of the students and their hard work this year! Teachers are processing grades and report cards will be sent home on Friday the week after Spring Break.
