Psalm 118:1 - Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
This is our theme verse for this upcoming year. I found the following devotion based on this verse from Robert Fudge - daily devotionals. I think it works well with the year we have ahead of us! We all face times in our lives when we need to be reminded that the love of the Lord endures forever. When things have really gone bad and it seems that we could not be any worse off and then something else happens, we wonder if God really does love us. So we begin to question why these things are happening to us and what is behind them. The truth is that often we do not know why and will never know (at least in this life) but what we can know is that these things are designed to help us become ready to live with God in eternity. When we are warned of trials in the New Testament, we never read about “if they come” but always “when” they come upon us. We are told how to handle them and what our attitude is to be toward them after we are assured that they will come in our lives. We look around and see others that seem to not have them but in reality they just are not showing them at the moment. Trials are a part of life and necessary to our spiritual growth. The good news is that the love of the Lord endures forever. No matter how dark things may seem, he is our light in the storm. No matter how lonely we may feel, he is our constant friend who will never leave us nor forsake us. When our load is too heavy to bear, he will carry it with us and at times for us. He is always on guard to see that we are not tempted beyond what we are able to bear but that is assuming we use his strength and allow his Spirit to empower us. So we can cry to the Lord in full assurance that he will hear us and his love endures forever. There is nothing anyone can do to us that goes unnoticed by our God. It is in Jesus Christ that we are more than conquerors and will have the ultimate victory. He has already won the battle; and we are on his side! I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! It will be great year of learning, making friends, and of course, growing in our faith walk. I am looking forward to seeing your child VIRTUALLY on a Meet and Greet Google Hangout (link here) the week of July 27. Parents are welcome, but it's not necessary for you to be present. This is a chance for me to begin to get to know your child.
Please note - the email address I have used for you are listed on Sycamore. Be sure to update that if needed.
