We remembered our grandparents and other special friends in our lives with a wonderful message from the 7th grade class in chapel. We know that Cover to Cover - God's word can help us through all things we go through in life. Here is the link to the chapel service. Please share it with your loved ones!
6th graders also remembered our grandparents with a special Bible verse art project. Be sure to not let it stay in their backpack. We also ended our Nonfiction unit with a week on learning about disabilities. We simulated blindness, deafness, and a variety of cognitive disabilities. Thursday Mrs. Donner's mom talked to our class about working with infants and toddlers with hearing loss. Today we wrapped up the unit by watching The Miracle Worker, Helen Keller's story. What a remarkable way God can work through what Satan intended to be evil for the good and blessing of others. Reminders:

This week went by super fast all thanks to the surprise snow day. Next week we have an English test and Social Studies test on Tuesday. In Religion we learned about the transfiguration. We read 3 different versions of it from Matthew 17, Mark 9, and Luke 9.
We had our turn in the gym for Kids Heart Challenge this week on Monday! There was knockout, helicopter, double dutch, hoola hoops, and a big jump rope! Make sure to check out the pictures from our bloggers, Jonah and Claire. Our units!
AR due Monday, 3/7 by 3:00pm. What’s up, sixth grade. Today is our Valentine’s party, we had fun. Also, today is Claire’s birthday. In art we started our pop heart project. In the other class they started a camouflage animal project. Next week there is no school Friday. Tomorrow for the youth group there is a hide-n-seek. And tonight is a movie night where we are watching one of the Ice Age movies. See you next week 6th grade. And have a great weekend. ~Jonah and Harrison GOD GIVES US WORTH! A special thank you to parents and grandparents for taking the time to be interviewed by your child this past week. You opened up a wonderful line of communication for your child to talk about these "growing up" years and the struggles we sometimes face with fitting in. Thank you for your openness. You are a great witness to share the importance of your relationship with God and the value He gives us as His children. Check out the Religion tab above to see what we are currently studying as we walk through the life of Christ. Here's a few topics we are exploring: Religion - The Ministry of Jesus - his miracles and spreading God's love to ALL. Science - Bones, Muscles, and Skin English - Ending our unit on Pronouns soon and the research paper is quickly approaching! Special Thanks! To our room moms for the Valentine's pretzels and fun chopsticks game! The kids had a great time socializing and enjoying the treats. Dates to Remember:
Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart: Monday, Feb. 14 is our day to participate in Jump Rope for Heart. If your child has donated $5 or more they are allowed to dress down in sweats for the entire day. If they haven't brought in donations yet they still can on Monday morning. Update on Grandparents Day 2022: Grandparents day is canceled again this year. We want to keep everyone as safe as possible, especially our special grannies and gramps. We WILL have school that day but it is a half day. Dismissal is at 12pm. Second Step: In Second Step for the last few weeks, we have talked about a heavier topic - bullying. We learned what bullying really is as we looked at the definition highlighting key words like "repeatedly" and "intentionally". Then we learned five tips on what to do if we are being bullied or if a friend is being bullied. One of the tips is to not fight back (if it is someone trying to hurt our feelings). Brooks Gibbs shows students the power of not fighting back in this YouTube video. The kids loved it. Check it out! What a nice and short week! I hope you all had a great few snow days. I have had a relaxing time baking, playing Mario Party on the Switch, and reading a book. Just a reminder - these were snow days, NOT E-learning days. There are NO NEW assignments. Everything is pushed back and kids are not expected to do anything new. What IS due on Monday when we return?
Spelling Bee Update: The spelling bee will now be held this upcoming Tuesday, Feb 8 starting at 2pm. Congrats to our class's participants - Celia R. and Kylie F. alternate Rosie M.
